Nollywood actress, singer, philanthropist and politician, Tonto Dikeh, has opened up about her past battle with drug addiction, urging the public to show compassion to people struggling with substance abuse.
Dikeh made the disclosure in a recent post on Instagram, where she reflected on her struggles and the circumstances that led her into drug use.
According to her, drugs were not the root of her problems but an escape from pain she did not know how to express.
She said her experience taught her the importance of healing, self-awareness and seeking help, rather than turning to substances as a way of coping with emotional struggles.
Dikeh also encouraged people battling addiction not to give up on themselves, stressing that those struggling with substance abuse need support and understanding.
Her disclosure has continued to draw reactions from social media users, with many commending her for speaking openly about an experience that remains difficult for many to discuss publicly.
