Re-positioning NIGERIA’S FILM CAPITAL: AIFF 2026 RECOGNIZES MAUREEN TAMUNO’S VISIONARY INFRASTRUCTURAL STRIDES

Infrastructure took center stage at the 23rd Abuja International Film Festival closing ceremony, where Dr. Maureen Tamuno, the Group Managing Director of Abuja Investments Company Limited, was honoured with the prestigious Industry Merit Award for her transformative work in revitalizing the creative economy.

The festival jury recognized Dr. Tamuno’s aggressive efforts in spearheading the infrastructural expansion and land development of the Abuja Film Village, transforming it into a state-of-the-art premier hub for cultural and cinematic excellence. Her strategic collaborations with various Nollywood guilds have effectively bridged the gap between corporate real estate investment and artistic production, giving the nation’s capital the physical tools needed to scale its film output.

Dr. Shaibu Husseini, Executive Director of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), commended the alignment between infrastructure and regulation during the event:

“Content cannot thrive without structure and spaces. What Dr. Maureen Tamuno is doing with the Abuja Film Village is exactly what the industry needs to move from a casual economy to a highly structured global competitor. By investing in top-tier facilities in Abuja, she is helping create an ecosystem where regulators, investors, and creatives can collaborate seamlessly. We are proud to see her vital work recognized tonight.”
