Nigeria @ 66: AGN President peaches peace, forgiveness, professionalism

*Urges actors to shun anything capable of  destroying  the brotherhood they share

The National President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Alhaji Yakubu Abubakar has called on   Nollywood practitioners to embrace forgiveness, reconciliation and  professionalism, while  shunning  any social vices that will destroy the brotherhood that binds them  together.

He also  urged the actors to learn to be their brothers’ and sisters’ keepers as instructed by the scripture.

Abukakar particularly, assured the industry operators of  a greater tomorrow despite the challenges confronting the country in recent times.

In his lengthy  independence message to the  members of the Guild, Abubakar recognizes  the struggles the  actors are facing, the uncertainty of tomorrow, and the sacrifices many of them are making in order to  keep their dreams alive.

He, however, assured them that the story is far from over.

“Our greatest chapters are still ahead of us,” he added.

The message read in part: ” My dear colleagues, brothers and sisters in the Nigerian film industry, our great nation celebrates its 66th Independence Anniversary,

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to every Nigerian, particularly the hardworking men and women of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, whose talent, sacrifices and dedication continue to tell our stories to the world.

“Today, I bring you a message of Hope, Unity, and renewed commitment

“I understand the challenges confronting our industry. I recognise the struggles of our actors, the uncertainty of tomorrow, the financial difficulties and the sacrifices many make simply to keep their dreams alive. But I want to assure you that our story is far from over. Our greatest chapters are still ahead of us.”

As the  National President of AGN, Abubakar sad he remains committed to building a Guild, where every actor matters, every voice is heard, every talent is valued and every member can look to the future with renewed confidence. He added that you cannot build a stronger industry without first building stronger relationships among ourselves.

“Let us learn to celebrate one another’s successes without jealousy, correct one another without hatred and support one another without expecting anything in return.

“When a colleague is sick, let us show up. When an actor is struggling, let us extend a helping hand. When a veteran is forgotten, let us remember their sacrifices. When a young actor is trying to find their feet, let us offer encouragement rather than shut the door.

“Let us never allow politics, personal differences, ethnicity or unhealthy competition to destroy the brotherhood that binds us together.

“There is enough room for every one of us to shine. Another actor’s success does not diminish yours.

“As  we celebrate Nigeria’s independence, I call on every member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria to embrace forgiveness, reconciliation, professionalism and genuine love for one another. He promised to ensure that his  administration  continues to pursue opportunities for his members.
