EXCLUSIVE!  I’m Not What People Think I Am, Uche Ogbodo Opens Up On Sensitivity, Strength

Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo, has addressed what she describes as misconceptions about her personality, saying many mistake her strength for insensitivity.
In a recent interview with Glitz9ja, Ogbodo said contrary to the notion that she is extremely tough and unbothered about what people think, she is actually very sensitive and feels deeply, but has learned not to let her emotions stop her from living.
In her words: “I think people sometimes mistake my strength for not having feelings. I have feelings. I just refuse to let them stop me from living.
“People sometimes think I’m this extremely tough, confident woman who doesn’t care what anybody thinks. The truth is, I’m actually very sensitive. I feel deeply, I love deeply.
“Things affect me. I just learned how to survive my emotions without allowing them to destroy me. And yes, I’m confident — but confidence doesn’t mean I don’t have vulnerable moments.”
She also reflected on her journey in the film industry, describing it as a mix of highs, lows, lessons and resilience.
The mother of three said she has stopped trying to fit into people’s expectations and has started building her own identity, noting that her lowest moments taught her the most.
According to her, playing complicated, villainous and emotionally damaged characters has been the most challenging part of her career, as it requires finding humanity in people whose choices differ from hers.
On staying relevant in 2026, Ogbodo said talent alone is no longer enough, as Nollywood has become more competitive and audiences more sophisticated. She added that she has learned to evolve without losing herself or chasing every trend.
The actress also expressed her desire to play a deeply layered, emotionally raw role that shows vulnerability beyond beauty and strength — a woman whose life looks perfect on the outside but is different behind closed doors.
On what “Uche Ogbodo” represents, she said it stands for reinvention and courage.
